Simple Catering Guideline

Having a simple catering guideline when planning an event, catering is always a top priority. It is essential to be familiar with the do’s and don’ts when choosing a catering company. This is because, aside from the fact people need food, they also love it, and good food is a conversation starter. If guests leave hungry, they’re not happy! There are other facts, other than food choices, that you need to keep in mind. And so, there are a few things that are crucial to the success of your event catering.

Planning for the Weather

It’s important to plan accordingly. If you are having an outdoor event in winter you may find warm food will get cold. You may also find that cold food doesn’t warm people up. As a result, it is important you plan certain aspects around your food and that you serve the right food for your situation.

Choose a Variety of Canapes or Provide Menu Choices

It’s important that you find out about any allergies and/or intolerances. So allergies are fatal and if you don’t find out about them beforehand you could be liable. You need to serve a multitude of food options so that people have a choice and don’t go hungry.

Let the Catering staff Do What They Are Best At

The reason you hire catering staff is so that you don’t have to do it. You need to let them do their job. Unless there is something you are not happy with, you should let them follow the plan you agreed upon. In addition to this, the catering staff will most likely be able to accommodate to any last minute changes.

Don’t Change the Plan Last Minute

Once you have made a plan and confirmed it, it is important to stick to it. Normally, the catering company will place orders and book staff for your event as quickly as possible so make sure your last confirmation is right.

Don’t Add People to the Guest List

The same goes for the numbers. You can’t make changes once you have made your final confirmation. With enough notice, some catering companies may be lenient, however, if you wait until last minute to add twenty people to the numbers it will most likely not be possible to order more food and make changes.

Don’t Make the Assumption that Catering Companies Serve Alcohol

Some catering companies cannot serve alcohol. It is important you discuss this with your catering company before booking them for your event. If your catering company does not have a license to serve alcohol, you will have to find another company to offer drinks at your event.
